No. Our 501 ( c ) (3) tax status does not permit us to endorse candidates or political parties.
Does the Family Council Voter’s Guide favor a particular philosophy or world view?
No. If we were biased, candidates would not complete our survey.
How were the questions in the candidate survey selected?
Questions in the survey represent the critical issues being debated at the state and federal level. Some are ongoing debates that occur year after year. Others are emerging issues that lawmakers will likely face in the near future. Our survey always covers a wide range of issues that are of keen interest to both major political parties.
Who pays for the distribution of the Family Council Voter’s Guide?
Family Council and the Family Council Voter's Guide are supported by charitable donations from individuals and churches across the state of Arkansas.
How long has Family Council been publishing voter’s guides?
Family Council published its first voter's guide sixteen years ago, in the spring of 1990.
How is the Family Council Voter’s Guide distributed ?
The Family Council Voter's Guide is distributed by direct mail, in churches, on the internet, and in newspapers.

Why did some candidates refuse to complete the Family Council candidate survey?
Only the candidate who refused to complete the survey would be able to answer that question. Voters are encouraged to contact individual candidates for the answer to this question.
Is it OK to contact candidates who did not complete the survey and encourage them to complete it?
Yes. Their contact information is listed on this website.
Can this Voter’s Guide be distributed in churches?
Yes. This Voter’s Guide meets all Internal Revenue Service requirements. Family Council, the producer of this guide, has the same tax status as a church.
How would you answer the criticism that the distribution of this guide in churches is “bringing politics into the church?”
Almost everyone can see the importance of good citizenship. Pastors should encourage the members of their congregation to be good and responsible citizens. Responsible citizenship involves not only voting, but voting wisely. This voter’s guide is a tool that helps people cast an informed vote.
Can this Voter’s Guide be copied and distributed?
Yes. In fairness to the candidates, we ask that candidate answers be copied in their entirety.
Is any information in this Voter’s Guide copyrighted?
Yes. However, citizens are licensed to copy this guide and distribute it freely, but in fairness to the candidates, we ask that candidate answers be copied in their entirety.
Is this Voter’s Guide a “political” publication?
No. This Voter’s Guide simply reflects candidate positions on a wide range of issues that may be a topic of debate in the halls of government.
Does Family Council edit, change, or fail to print candidate answers in their entirety?
No. We publish candidate answers in their entirety exactly as the candidate provided them to us. Candidates are not allowed to exceed the limit of 150 words for their short answer questions that appear in our printed Voter's Guide. Unusually long responses are limited to the space we have available.
