Arkansas Voter's Guide

About Us

Family Council is a Conservative Organization Based in Little Rock, Arkansas

Since 1989, Family Council has been at the forefront promoting, protecting, and strengthening traditional family values in Arkansas. We are part of a nation-wide network of family policy councils associated with Focus on the Family and Dr. James Dobson. Our mission involves shaping public opinion through media interviews and shaping public policy through the legislative process. In addition, we conduct research and educate the public on a wide range of issues. Through our voter’s guide we educate voters about the electoral process and the candidates who are seeking office. Family Council is a conservative education and research organization based in Little Rock, Arkansas. The Education Alliance and the Arkansas Physicians Resource Council are divisions of our work dedicated to promoting home schooling and to enabling Arkansas physicians to address social and moral issues that impact medical ethics. The Family Council Action Committee is a separate companion organization with a greater focus on the political arena. Our offices are located just 2 blocks from the State Capitol building in downtown Little Rock, Arkansas.

A Word About our Candidate Survey and Our Voter’s Guide

Family Council believes voters need accurate unbiased information about candidates and where they stand on the critical social and political issues of our day. Many voters walk into the voting booth not even knowing which candidates will appear on their election ballot. This voter’s guide will enable voters to cast a more informed vote.

To help the voters of our state, Family Council surveyed every candidate running for the Arkansas Legislature. We also surveyed every candidate running for statewide office and every candidate running for the United States Congress. Their responses to our survey appear unedited and exactly as the candidate gave them to us.

Candidates who did not complete the survey were contacted at least six times. Candidates were mailed our survey by certified letter. Those who did not complete the survey were mailed at least 2 reminders by first class mail. Candidates who still did not respond were telephoned at least 3 times. Some candidates were contacted as many as 10 times either by Family Council staff or by local citizens interested in learning the candidates’ views and having them complete the survey.
