Judicial Candidate Profile
1. Name of Law School and Graduation Date.
Candidate's Answer:University of Arkansas May 1993
2. Where Have You Been Employed as an Attorney?
Candidate's Answer:Benton County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (1994)
Boyce R. Davis Associates (1994-1999)
Davis and Zega, P.C. (1999-2006)
United States Army (on active duty for the National Guard), 2003-2005
Davis, Parker and Zega, P.C., (2006-present)
3. In What Areas of Law Have You Practiced or Specialized?
Candidate's Answer:I have been a prosecutor of one kind or another for almost all of my career. I started as a Deputy Prosecutor in Benton County and went on to become the Lincoln City Prosecutor (1994-2003) and I have been the Prairie Grove City Prosecutor since 2006. While deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, I was Trial Counsel (military prosecutor) to the 39th Infantry Brigade. In private practice, I have been a general practice lawyer. I handle a lot of divorce, custody and support issues, wills and truts, small business and contract issues, and some personal injury cases.
4. Endorsements (Please exclude private citizens or elected officials)
Candidate's Answer:None at this time.
5. Which one of the following U.S. Supreme Court Justices most reflects your judicial philosophy?- Samuel Alito
- Stephen Breyer
- Ruth Bader Ginsburg
- Anthony Kennedy
- John Roberts
- Antonin Scalia
- Sonia Sotomayor
- John Paul Stevens
- Clarence Thomas
Candidate's Answer:I respectfully decline to answer this question for two reasons. One, the office I am seeking is vastly different from a seat on the United States Supreme Court. There, the justices are the final word in the legal system. The job I am running for, Circuit Judge, is the first encounter with the legal system for most people. The job of a Circuit Judge is largely to follow precedent; the job of a Supreme Court Justice is to set precedent. Two, my judicial philosophy is my own, and I hope it stays that way.
